The map can be found here:
http://www.staredit.net/index.php?download=1526Unfourtunately the map was protected and I could not see how it was done. Someone please tell the public how to do it.
The units had attack ranges that were accross the entire map. The attack animations looked like if you did some work on it flying deebree or even rain could be nicely done.
It had units that were placed in STarForge. The unit numbers were 2008 probably, that one works. They were out of your vision becauseing clicking on it crashes SC.
I know of no unit that can let that happen vertically, it only works horizontally and slightly slanted. So rain is hard, but you can do debris. I used wriath lasers for a sandstorm.
Uhh it should be removed because the rules for the experimental maps are to leave the map unprotected. Its not the Look What I Can Do section.
PS. Vindexus was talking about this stuff a while back i think.
Full Credit to Kenoli-
I think it is the unit 2008 or 2048 in starforge. (they both the same)
It has a zergling display picture and crashes when clicked on.
Even though the zergling picture is very 'small', the physical properties is very wide, around 72 tiles... so units can attack from a very long distance. If the units i saw were owned by a computer, all the map maker has to do is tell them to 'send unit on random suicide mission' and they'll attack the unit on their spot.
^===^ good trick, but i guess i figured it out
Remember, Kenoli discovered this, not me.Aight Bolt, I just PM'ed the guy who submitted and made the map. But I don't think he will be back because he rarely logs on and he has 0 posts.
maybe he just uses SEN to submit his maps and get them out to the community "quickly"
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's how you do it. NOtice that only the dragoons, mutalisks, and guardians, and vultures shot only hit. The other units (marines, ghosts, goliaths etc.) don't hit.
That would be because the marines, ghost and goliaths attack images only show the attack hitting the target, whereas the other units have a missle traveling to the target.
There was also a map where units could freely walk across water. It was null terrain with creep on it, if the units were travelling to "the other side", the would ignore normal properties of invalid terrain.
Wouldn't a Turret/Spore/Cannon be able to produce the same effect?
Yes i would believe so Coko, as those units have a missile traveling to the target instead of having it hit instantaneously the target like a marine.
2008 is really wide, so units can attack it from far away. If its a dragoon, mutalisk, vulture, or something that shoots like that, you can see the shot fly all the way to the center of the unit (which looks like a zergling) If a marine, ghost, or some melee attacker hits it, the shot hits around the edge of the unit (which is about 70 tiles away form the center)
If you want to use it for some effect there are some things to keep in mind:
It crashes when clicked on.
It only works horizontal.
Max range is about 70 tiles from center.
Ground attacks only.
The AI script 'send all units on random suicide missions' will make the computer attack it.
There is another unit thats even wider.... 2043 i think. But its goofy.
Its not really a bug. Just one of those crazy extra units.
Simple issue, is what is the use in most convential map types?
In RPG's it would be awesome since it will create a bigger and better sense of , oh, I don't know, mayber flying debree or a big battle field with war raging on and you see all them lasers and stuff.
Bound, you know how bounds are it's the one with the best special effects.
Defense, I have no clue.
Arena, I also have no clue.
Hat could be used in futuristic Space Rpg: When you enter in Hyper-Space mode travelling, The bullets represent planet, debris....
I still don't understand... if some1 can send me the map Unprotected or explain me better... Plz?
We are trying to make the submitter unprotect the map right now. So now we don't have an unprotected one.

Can't you edit that stuff? You said you approved it. . . just delete it, you shouldn't have accepted it in the first place.
