Report, edit, etc...Posted by SaLaCiouS(U) on 2004-11-12 at 20:46:09
This was discovered by VoidArchon(MC). This makes the building look blurry as shown below.

(requires SCXE Special Edition, SCMDraft II, or Starforge, Any editor that can make buildings over another VERY closely)

First off, place 1 building on the map, then place another of the same building as close as you can (1 pixel away), Have the building on bottom owned by any player, and have the top building owned by any player (I prefer Player 7 cause it looks best) and disable the top building, so you can see the bottom and see right through the top building, which makes it look blurry.

Trigger
Description:
Player 1
Conditions:
¤ *Always
Actions:
¤ 'Disable' doodad state for 'Terran Engineering Bay' for 'Player 1'
¤ 'Enable' doodad state for 'Terran Engineering Bay' for 'Player 7'

The real purpose of this topic was basically so I could attach this image somewhere so I could use it in the Tutorials Database Here.

Heh, That looks cool, but it would be better if you had a bunch of them flying around.

Might be good for some kind of earthquake effect. Looks swanky.

Neat. Too bad disabled bays don't move when disabled. Does this work on all disablable buildings? I assume so.,..just wondering.

Anyways, this could be used for earthquakes, but perhaps if you had them both invisible and kept switching it (as long as enabling Bays again doesn't crash), you could really psyche people out by having it look like their bay is moving up and down slightly. biggrin.gif

interesting, ... can it be done with units or powerups ??

ADDITION: Some questions and ideas :
- If it's for P12 for exemple and u don't have obs, will be the same effect ??

Idea : make lots of flying blurry builldings for dunno what effect tongue.gif

put like 10 engering bay floating

Trigger :

Condition : CurrentPlayer commands atleast 1 engering bay
Actions :
Center loc 'center loc" on engering bay
Remove 1 engering bay at 'center loc'
Create 1 Command Center(Floating) at 'center loc'
Disable dood command center
Enable dood command center
Disable dood command center
Enable dood command center
Disable dood command center
Enable dood command center
...
Remove 1 command center
wait(100?)
Create 1 engerin bay at 'center loc'
Preserve Trigger

Copy it 10* (10 engering bay at start)

I DIDN'T TESTED IT and will maybe don't work !!!!

That actually seems pritty cool. And as someone said before, it could be used as an earthquake effect of some kind. Nice! =)

It won't place the Command Centre it will show an error, same for the Engineering bay afterwards, you need to have them moving from elsewhere. And if you look at it as it does the Command Centre thing it will crash, also its wrong.

Disable,
Enable,
Enable,
Move,
Give,
Move Building there.

move building on a building will not place them on the same place :/

Then nothing you do will work, don't try.

No powerups and units can't be stacked like that. You can put air units over ground units though. But i think you already thought of that lol.

I'm currious why do people think you need to enable the stuff twice? Are you sure you have to do that, I'm pretty sure i only used one enable when i did the triggers.
(havn't really played with it much)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-11-14 at 23:19:31
Because it has a small crash rate if you enable it once. Enabling it twice pretty much completely nullifes the crash rate. Also, I think it has to be done twice with unit-sprites, so its easier to have the same thing for both.

Well; taking it off the actual tutorial its something about the Trigger Enable maybe not functioning correctly from time to time, and this just means there is little chance of that occuring. Has ro real major effect, with or without. But its just there.

Too bad that if someone lifts you can't respawn over the other buildings.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-11-22 at 21:49:12
If you disable both of them then they can't lift, but then you can't upgrade there.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Paella on 2004-11-23 at 15:01:01
And that would be absolutely purposeless. And for the "earthquake" effect, all that that would do is let you show cloakable buildings together, it's kinda useless, but it does look cool happy.gif...

yea, you could stack them with an editor where both are owned by the same player, and then it becomes blurry and it looks like it didn't move, this has so many possiblities biggrin.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-11-23 at 15:27:41
The problem stated though is that if someone lifts one, it can't be recreated on the other building.

I'm goint to try having a disabled one in teh air and the one you use to upgrade on the ground, that should work, dunno if it would look good or not, but certainly weird. With many different disabled buildigns we could make thing slook very weird. Perhaps stacked beacons spread out and disabled under a cloaked building, then it would be glowing, biggrin.gif
