In fact, it's not really a "protection" but it crashes SF or SCMDraft or whatever when you open the map.... the concept is not really hard, here steps to make it :
- place one any unit on each corners for any player
- select them
- move the screen to middle for exemple to not see them
- right clik, properties
- in Unit Type, put 386
- save your map without looking at those units
StarForge NEEDED
Please make Save As, because u'll not be able to modify this version after.
FAQ
Q:Why do I need to put them on each corners ?
R:Because, if you put only at top left, when u opened a map before and centered screen bottom right, and open the protected map, you'll not crashes
Q:I don't want to put additional units in my map !!!!
R:There will not be anyunit when you play the map
Q:Why not use ProEdit ??
R:Well, because some people can unprotect maps protected by ProEdit very easily... of course, it's not all people, but...
Q:It is a perfect protection???
R:No, anyone can remove "crash units" by hexing....
or just use SCMIE ....
cant u combine protections? o_O
hmm yeah good idea i might try that dude, good idea
If you replace hex codes; 09, x2, SCUPS and 5x GUPS with: 08, x2, SCUP x5 GUP, then save your map, it's virtually the equivilant of Guedit protection. =)
Yes, of course combine this + ProEdit + toGikon's
will be really really really hard to unprotect lol.
I suppose.
ADDITION: I don't really like GUEdit because of SCU ...
Nonsense, this method is pointless, all i'd do would be open the map with SCMToolkit and change the units you'd placed in the corners of the maps, and then save and open it. Also possible to do so in the Hex Editor.

You didn't looked at the FAQ ??
It was just an idea !!
-_-
Just thought i'd point out that you didn't even need to Hex edit either, and that a simple tool could do it. This works along the same lines as placing units to crash Starcraft, it can be jumped around.
Humm and if it is protected by ProEdit AND this ??
What will u do ??
Simple edit it through a Hex Editor, but its still pointless, i'd needed to use Hex Editor if it used Pro Edit anyway. At least on the last two versions of it.

The thing is you might not know it was protected this way.
But once you've got rid of the ProEdit protection through Editing, and it crashes, you've just got to open SCMToolkit and get rid of the units. It just holds you up for a while.
Its still more than any n00b is going to go thru to steal a map...
I can do it.. but anyway I only do it for people who have a GOOD reason.
And adding more protection + hex code to your map does help. It keeps people like me awake at night trying to open your map. MAUHAHAHAHAHA [joke].
Or it keeps me from bothering because most people protect Madness maps to hide their amazing triggers.
lol.
Atleast it probably piss people off that their editor crashes when they open their map. I doubt many people would think 'I know, I'll delete all unit 386 in the corners of the map.' To most people then it would be impossible to open. Does it crash X-tra?, or will it just delte them and not crash. Doesn't matter too much though. If you had Proedit and they unprotected it, who's going to use X-tra editor to look at it.
So...I think it's a reasonable thing to put in the map. Just make sure you fix the .wavs afterwards.
I dont think this will crash the new scmdraft engine, someone will have to give me a map with this for me to check
SI you haven't made it Unprotection enabled again have ya?
Christ calm down i am just making a joke.
lol, no, I just fixed a bug where units > 228 could cause a crash.
U should fix when selected them, no crash too, when u are to it , lol
is toGikon's shield the best? I mainly use PROEdit beacuse it's easier to use.
Togi is horrible. It adds like 40kb to your map and i heard that it was easy to unprotect.
huh? I dont know what you mean, however the data structures have been redesigned that any unit that doesn't exist in the dat files automatically uses stats of unit 0 (terran marine I believe) in the editor
Can't you set it to something else, thats already used by the Scanner, it will confuse many people. I'd advise setting it to a Protoss Scout similar to others, since then everyone knows won't type of object it is.
