Staredit Network

Staredit Network -> Concepts -> Stacked Transit Building's Effects on Units.

This is rather interesting, I thought air units don't interfere with each other...

however I was making a trailer and I was creating some air units on stacked lifted buildings and it happened to be unplaceble. I even created a map revealer on top of transit buildings and it was also unplaceable. In addition the unplaceable map revealers crashed the game.

Then i decided to conduct a map on 3 tests.

- I attempted to move a wraith across transit buildings = Perfect, no effect.
- I attempted to create wraiths on the transit buildings = unplaceble.
- I attempted to create map revealaers on the transit buildings = unplaceble, crash gane.

here's the map of the proof.

Thats a great way to crash, and relatively easy!
Do you have to have the map rev in vision for it to work?

Sounds Interesting... But why would you want to... I wonder if it would work in melee games... Just lift of buildings and place them around your starport... Then it would crash...

This could be very bad ... crazy.gif

But neat discovery

Strange; wonder what causes this glitch. Its not linked to Melee because moving over it, and moving triggers work perfectly. Likely it confuses itself with the building itself, as it doesn't place those where units are present.

If you cover the area around a StarPort, it will say Building Exit Blocked and wait for you to clear the way.

What happens if you create a transit building over a map revealer?

Nothing, i've done it many times.

The building on the ground has an "area" which nothing can normally pass through. When the building is lifted it still has that area.
All air units have that "area".

When you try and create a unit in that area it isn't possible because that area is already occupied. Air units can move right through each other because they have stacking properties when moving.
It's like when you have a whole bunch of Air units and move them to one place. When they get there they start spreading out.

Does that mean if you have a lot of air units over a Barracks, it won't let the Marine out aswell? Or are the 'areas' still set up for height regulations like with locations.

The wraiths won't affect the marine coming out of the barracks because units affect other units this way only if they are in the same hieght location.

That is a neat discovery. If you create a map revealer for a certain player will it just crash that player? That could be cool.

How could it be cool, unless used for a horrible way to ban someone?

Suppose, but i hate it when something crashes Starcraft because now and then it crashes my computer as well...

Yes. If you want to ban someone, kill ALL their units (unless you have to give them to people). That means staying alive is useless.

THe key thing is, they stay in game and annoy people, which pisses a lot of people off.

I've always asked myself why crash people? Having them just have Defeat is much less anoying than crashing.

I like what was just said about killing all their units but keeping the player in the game because I can learn what tactics where used against me and I can the learn better strategies and learn from my errors.
