Staredit Network -> Concepts -> Stack with 'Lights' on

scythe[ewc] in czaries.net forums made a map to show a glitch in SC. I dunno if it was found before, but I'll post it anyways.

Basically, it has preplaced stacked buildings. When it removes 1, it lets you build on the other ones for some reason, then you have another computer one removed and you stack again. It's really fun, biggrin.gif SO basically, you are stacking over and over until the computer ones run out. scythe said it only works 10 times hough, so I'll have to check that.

Wow...thats weird...i never seen that glitch before pinch.gif

He said it only works 10 times because there were only 10 buildigns you placed. Im sure it will work for however many buildings you place down. Neat discover, but would take the same amount of time as turning the lights off and stacking imo.

When was this glitch discovered? What patch?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LegacyWeapon on 2004-11-24 at 12:54:55
Obviously this is for the newest version of Starcraft...
Wasn't it just discovered after SFv2.2 came out?
SFv2.2 came out after the patch 1.11b

For some reason i can place buildings on top of my pre-placed buildings in SCMDraft 2, on a select few, its just a wierd error. SCMDraft 2 seems to create them for my map, like any structures i'd pre-set to 9999 health and then changed their name in SCMDraft 2 editor, it set them to -534543543 or so...

It changes their name to that?, or the HP? Weird.

I suppose if you used triggers for the stacked buildings to remove one every time you brought another building there, you could do it faster than the lights. It's just also cool because you can build and stack while units are passing by in a D without not attacking.

I'm gonna try it with other buildings, lots of fun, biggrin.gif I wonder if you can create buildings there because you could theoretically do the same thing for the blurry building effect incase they lift off.

Dude that so awsome

If you remove a building you can put another one where it was, even if there is a building already there. Ive known that for a while.

The picture below shows a huge pile of cloaked beacons, none of which were preplaced on the map.

Umm hows this new discovery? I knida knew that for awhile....didnt think it wa svery special. It happens alot in rps. Instead of restackin just build ur destroyed buildings again. I thought u meant stack on terrain or somethin...

Agg where are all my post going, this is the second one missing.
Anyways i said something like

"I belive thats how it replaces a creep colony with a sunken one in stacked sunken D maps."

And nobody else noticed this when they played maps like stacked splash defense? I mean, I've known that for nearly a year. One quick question though, when you creat a beacon in the spot of a previously placed building, won't the new beacon align to the grid? If so, Kenoli lied a bit. happy.gif

If you'd look back in the old days when people (Or at least I did) used the Platinum patch you'd notice stack building when lifted can land back down upon their stacked (Pre-placed) location. So with these new programs (SF, SCMD) we can pre-place a lotta buildings and let someone stack on them.

So like what people said above, I've known this for quite some time.

I would guess beacons are always aligned to the grid when created by triggers, like buildings are.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by RexyRex on 2004-11-27 at 00:57:38
Units are not aligned to the grid when made in locations?
Or are you talking about locations that doesn't snap to the grid like in SF (SCMD does it too? I don't use it)? Because then your right, they do snap to the grid (Buildings and becaons).

If you use a editor like Staredit the location corners have to be on grid intersections. When you create a unit it will be placed in the center of the location. However when you center locations with the trigger it does not move to align with the grid, and the 'men' created at the also do not align to the grid.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-11-27 at 22:17:22
But I think beacons and Buildings do. If you make a weird location shape, I know a building will still be aligned to the grid, i haven't tried beaocns though. I can't believe I never thought of trying it, ranting.gif lol

I always wondered how those stacked defense maps worked. This is neat, biggrin.gif
