I was trying to upload a new avatar today but I got this error:

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

The error returned was:

The upload failed.

anyone have a clue maybe why it failed? and how to fix it?
I've already uploaded avies before and this is the first time I get this error...

On a side note, I've noticed my mineral count is going down, what might cause it other then losing them in army (which I don't play)?
I wanna know since I might need those minerals to join competitions...

Make sure the file is a valid extension... make sure it has the right dimensions and etc, etc.

Minerals go down if your posts get deleted... and maybe if you post in a topic that get's deleted. So like for example... if someone spams something in a (U) forum and you reply with like 'spam!!! kill this noob' and sala just deletes the post entirely opposed to locking it, you end up loosing 16 minerals.

You lose 16 minerals even if you only made 2?

Yeah, sucks, doesn't it? wink.gif

As long as you don't spam really stupid stuff in the wrong forum or reply to someone's idiotic post that you know it's going to get deleted, you don't really have to worry about it.

Most topics just get locked unless I find the post really naive.

Moose on the other hand makes posts and deletes replies to keep it clean. He usually warns you before hand though.

I thought it was only when you deleted your OWN post that you lost money

nah it's when you delete any type of topic.
You make a topic and you got some new minerals. The topic was deleted so everything along with it has to go thus subracting minerals and sometimes you can even go into the negatives whcih sucks even more.

About the avatar error: You probably used a file extension other than .jpg . Although spome other file extensions are allowed .jpg are the best since they basicly don't take time to load and it doesn't loose much of the picture. Another problem might be that you are linking the picture from another website and you copied the site wrong or they might have server problems.

no... none of the problems you ppl suggested might have happened, the file is a 125*125 *.JPG that weights 4 kb, as I said, I've already uploaded avatars before and I know how it's done... it gotta be something else...

and about the minerals, I don't recall typing anything stupid against the rulls that was deleted ect ect...
meh... maybe a topic I posted in was deleted... :\

but I still have a problem of uploading the avatar... I tried uploading it several times from my computer and thru image-shack (isn't it images-hack?), and still all I get is that error message...

Try uploading it to your global space and then to your avatar.

To access your global space just click on my controls and in the left menu click on Manage Attachments.

no... I get the same error if when I upload the avatar I upload it thru image shack and not thru my computer... like... I'm giving it the URL of the avy and it's still buggy...

I'll try doing what BeeR_KeG[eM] said...
