In starforge when doing terrain there is a custom button next to palette. U can save a blank tile this way. I was wondering what you would do to edit this tile and would the tile work on battle.net . Like be saved with the map. This is crusial to me at the moment for I am doing a monopoly map(the actual game). As all who have played this game know that there are colors for the type of land. I want to know if i can make a terrain with just that color. Thanks!

Custom series of tiles, not tilesets. What you do is open up the custom tile editor thing, and place tiles from the master palette in there. You can then save your custom series of tiles and use it later. (Kind of like making your own doodad without the sprite)

Yes.... DK is talking about custom square things. It isn't a new tile like in Arsenal 3. It lets you place different tiles in a bigger tile you can save and place like a doodad, which DK said. i learned how to use it through Yoshi's 'How to make a 3D building' tutorial, biggrin.gif

I'd like to see you place a new tile tip in Arsenal 3 then, please give me an example.

Zerg doesn't know what he is talking about.

The custom PALLET doesn't allow you to make new tiles. Its just a brush.

Custom Tiles: You make a mod with new tiles
Custom Pallete: You can put some tiles in a mega-tile(A tile with more than 1 tile like 2x2) This allows you to put 2x2 square and each of those 4 squares in that tile would be different.

IE:

_____________
|~~~~~|!!!!!!!!|
|~~~~~|!!!!!!!!|
-------------------
|#####|;;;;;;;|
|#####|;;;;;;;|
--------------------

Each different symbol(~ ! # ; ) is a different tile. You would now place that big tile with all those 4 tiles in it like if it was just one tile.

Ok sorry if I am re-instating information but I'm going to clarify.

There is a custom brush option in Starforge which I suggest you use. It allows square terrain and such, but it allows yo to save a large bunch of terrain as one brush.

USE THIS BRUSH TO YOUR ADVANTAGE AS IT MAKES MAKING MAPS MUCH EASIER.

There if that makes it more clear your welcome.

I never used Arsenal 3, but in this post link it made out you make your own tiles in Arsenal3. Anways, I said it isn't a new tile, it lets you place different tiles in a bigger tile, ie: the custom tiles that are w.e size you want with w/e tiles you want in them.

yes, you CAN edit megatiles to your liking with Arensal3, but I think you've missunderstood me... Arenal3 is not a mapping program, it's a modding program, thus why you can't use it to change tiles in a spacific map.
what you CAN do, is play on LAN and tell all the people you play with to use the same mod, that way the changes will apply and you'll play with your edited tiles.
but than again, you have to make sure everyone use the EXACT same mod, not different versions of it.
also, the changes will apply for all SC and not only for a spacific map.

if you wanna see edited tiles, I can make a mod and attach.
you'll see that in singal player the changes will be there, but on multi it'll be like the original SC even tho you use the mod - bcuz other ppl on bnet use the ordinary SC.
and you can than ask a SEN member to dl the mod and play with you on bnet to see how the tiles are edited in bnet.
but imo it's all a whast of time... new tiles aint that interesting, new graphic is interesting, but it takes much more time.

anyhow, if you wanna see tile changes PM me or any other SEN member that can mod and know how to use arensal3's tile editor.

I can use Arsenal 3 editor, and to my records the Mega Tiles can't be edited easily, and inporting is a difficult and hard process. TileEdit is the normal tool to use, less buggy.

Still, give it a go if you want, and its not a bad thing to play Starcraft under a MOD, because mostly it runs off its own .exe and won't affect Starcraft, and if its widespread you can play with friends easily.
