9:00, last night, i was watching TV and i came across this documentary about the real evidence for Moses and the Exodus (bible story for those who dont know). The story included a few parts that many thought were just made up and superstistion, but this program acually scientifically explained any of the "mircale" parts of the story.

First of all being how God lead the Isralites by a pillar of smoke by day, and a pillar of fire by night. You see, it is belived that all this hapened at the same time that a massive volcanic island in the mediterranian errupted. It put it simply, it was huge, the ash and dust rose maybe 50km into the air, and that would have been visable from Egypt, thats a pillar of smoke outa the way.

Now, at night, the ash and dust would have been loaded with static electricity and would have been great conductors for lightning and thunder, while Moses would have been to far away to hear the thunder, he almost certainly would have seen the lightning, which would have given the ash a "Flaming Effect" Neat eh?

Now theres a whole theory on the Crossing of the Red sea, but ill post that when this topic picks up abit

i know how they crossed the red sea, there could have been an earthquake, with the epicenter in the red sea, and that caused a tsunami, the sea splitting, and they had enough time to cross before the tsunamies broke biggrin.gif that or God actually did do it, which i believe he did

God doesnt place obvious signs because he doesnt want us beleiving based on that, but based on faith...

Ah, good ol' retroactive shoehorning. Be vauge, use metaporic lanuage rather than being precise, and then make the shoe fit the foot.

I doubt they knew that somewhere in the mediterrain sea, a couple of hundred kms away that some island exploded, but they would have seen the pillar of ash and dust, they wouldnt have known what it was (this is dated like 1600 BC btw) so they tried to understand by making a explaination (aka God).

Anyway, onto the crossing of the sea.

First off - parting the Red sea, impossibe. During translations of the bible, "Reed" was mis-traslated as "Red'. The "Reed" sea is area of the Nile Delta, about 5m deep at its deepest point and was surrounded by reeds. Anyway, the volcanic explosion refered to above caused the island to sink, creating a tsumani, now when you look at a wave at the beach, you will notice what just before a wave brakes, the water at the shoreline retreats into the wave itself. (Meh, not a very good explaination i know)

Same thing happens on a bigger scale, Moses and his crew came to the Reed Sea and the Tsumani drew the water from the sea in, leaving a path for them to go by. Pharoah follows, Tsumani strikes - all dead (BTW this was far enough inland that the waters would only run through the seabed.

Although the waters didnt rise to make a path for them, this might have been added to make the story sound better.

BTW Drunken: IM not trying to prove the bible right, disprove God etc etc, im just saying that there is real proof to what might have happened. I personally beileve that the Old Testement is true, but has been blown out of proportinoon and logic by crazed God Fans
