Ok i was taken off the map team for some stupid reason. Reason is probably cuz isolated thought i wasn't doing my job in maintaining the DLDB!

WRONG! I've been approving maps DAILY... ums ones. Infact, on Dec 18, i just approved and edited 11 maps from the UMS section! I've been editing them, making sure they fit in the right categories, i even found one bound that was accidentally misplaced in the wrong section and so i moved it back to its correct place! I was the one that's been allowing the UMS maps into the DLDB!! Why the hell was i taken off the team?!?

Is there any way i can apply for the Map Team? Because i've been wanting to join it for a LONG time. And i'm on SEN daily

isolated has been slackening the staff due to public complaint. Xeno(U) was let go, along with Nozomu and yours truly. Frankly, I'm suprised Clokr_ still has his job, IP said he was planning on getting rid of him.

Xeno was inactive. i havnt seen Nozomu for ages and well DTBK, iso was probally just sick of all the hate the was surrounding you.

You're exactly right, that's what I was thinking when I removed you. See, before I created this map team, I modified the dldb script to log actions.

This isn't the first time you mass approved a bunch of files. While searching the logs for some specific files, I found you were mass approving some crap. I gave you a test... I uploaded a bogus map under a fake name and see if you would approve it. You did. You failed me.

By mass approving files without even basic checking, you are screwing up the integrity of the dldb that Yoshi set the standards for and that beer has been maintaining in a godly fashion (even excelling perhaps). You could also be accepting files with viruses, if you happen to accept any programs.

Do you think my reasoning is good enough?


Nozomu barely did any work on the DLDB, it was Sala's decision to remove him. I wanted Xeno replaced a long time ago. "isolated has been slackening the staff due to public complaint" really has no grounds.

But dude, i WAS checking those files, i made sure their authors names matched and made sure the maps fit those categories. I only mass approve once i finished checking every few files...

but w/e...

Edit: While i was approving those maps, it took me to a page with two blank files waiting to be approved, i just avoided those files by clicking on the admin link and went back to the page of files waiting to be approved. Were those the "bogus" maps u sent in? Because if they were, i didnt mean to approve it, IF i did which i doubt....

Edit 2: Could i still review maps btw?

isolated, not even I would do everything one at a time. It greatly improves speed to use multiple windows and get through with these things much faster. Perhaps your logs should include TIMES as well. isolated, losing touch with the staff and community like this is a downfall to sites that I have seen before, and I'm damned if that's going to happen again.

Besides, now that Beer is the only map team guy left, he's now responsible for all the maps and programs being submitted to the DLDB. And look, beer hasn't been on since, dec 17. Almost 2 days ago. He even sent me and Xeno a message saying he will be gone for a while and leaves us the responsibility of doing the DLDB. Maybe we wouldn't do as good of a job as beer, but at least someone is there to do it. Now ok, almost 2 days passed and now that the holidays started, people will be sending in stuff in huge quanitites. No one's there now; me and Xeno got kicked off, beer is gone, no one can submit anything to SEN now. Someone has to be there to approve and inspect the files....

I'm wondering, about how many files get submitted each day?

Anywhere from 2-6 files a day.

Bogus map was 1777. It's still up, give it a play. "I only mass approve once i finished checking every few files..." You should check them all, not every few. Blank files?

If nothing else, I'll start approving maps like how Yoshi did it all.

It might not be a perminate removal, I just did it before I had to leave for work so you couldn't accept any more files. I'm going to go through all the files you accepted first and then write a lengthy "Guide to being on the map team" thingy like Bolt started for moderators and then I'll see.

You people need more trustworthy people. I was alone doing the whole work back in Yoshi's day, and believe it or not, I was checking on SC every damn submitted maps. That's how it goes. If you don't feel like doing this, you're pretty much out of the team. No bad decisions from Isolated.

talking about it, I have plenty of free time and can do the cheacking, what does it needs to apply?
do I have to be a mod or just being dedicated and checking every map every day is enought?

Whats wrong with a little 3 day vacation?

I took all my spare time after studying for finals last week and I was almost always here on SEN and in DLDB.

School finished on friday so I went out with my friends to eat and then go to a party. Then we went and slept at my friends house, went to my Track competition, went to another party and sleept at my other friend's house. Then yesterday we went to the beach all day long.

Can't I take a little 3 day vacation. I've been working like mad in the DLDB and when IP told me he was working in the DLDB and not to approve anything, I thought that this was the perfect time to get a little break.

I've seen other Staff members(That doesn't mean Moose alone, it means everyone thats a mod, map team, tutorials, staff and admin) get like a week or more of inactivity and no one ever complains.
Sure i didn't really announce my inactivity because I thought 3 days wouldn't hurt. If it was like a week I would've made a big news post like Moose and yoshi did back in the day.

Now I have to choose new loyal, dedicated people for the map team and almost everybody is not qualified.

BTW: I'll forget you ever said that Voidarchon. I really hope no one asks for the position, because that means you really want to be on a higher position than others. Just wait some time and the more qualified people will recieve their PM.

Nothing wrong with taking a vacation... I just might take a little time out to install an old game and cast a little firebolt on some skellies and try to run around stealing stuff from people's houses, cuz you know, running around trying to hoard treasure is more fun than actually playing a game .

Anyways! Lol, so far, I've deleted over 10 files you accepted MA. Among the ones I was checking, 1 was just completely corrupted... 1 didn't even really exist (upload screwed up?)... 1 was a battle arena that forced center view on the center (messed up trigger making the map unplayable... I have to wonder if the author even played it once)... etc... etc... Tell me why exactly you think you should continue on the map team?

Wow, how can checking a few maps a day be a task, it should only take atleast 20 minutes based on the guidlines of checking maps, or the map it self.

If you guys need map checkers or whatever, you should make an Application, where people can fill out, to become a map checker.

It's actually not as easy as you think...
I don't know when I started checking files... but I'm averaging about 7 minutes per map or so. Some maps take like 1 second to check... while others like WW take time to get a game up and running and spend a little more time in.

Then you gotta make sure the map has some type of screenshot, in the right catagory, etc...

Thats kinda what I ment by guidlines...
I can see how it would take longer and be harder.

But if you got the procedures right and you know what your doing, it shouldn't be hard at all.

If i am permanently kicked off the map team (99% most likely)... i'm just going to miss doing the map reviews...

My god... I wish girls would admit they were wrong and being stupid as fast and easily... I swear, you can rub 2 hours worth of logic in their face and they will still think the guy is in the wrong somehow.

MA actually did a pretty good job with the reviews, he did them all except one which was done by Xeno.

I liked reading MA's reviews, his reviews were so much better than what other sites have. he did take time into making each review as I can see he actually played those maps with other people and then by the lengh, order and overall paragraph composition of his reviews he did a good job.

I'm up for MA being a Map Reviewer.

How would you do this IP? You can't give him map team, but making a new category just for him won't be that good of a decision anyways. Just keep his member group as regular but give him access to Map Reviews Administration Control Panel. he would be like the forum mods.

I could just hardcode his member id into the permission checking of the review scripts, it wouldn't be that hard.
