I'll post one of my first Starcraft mods...I havn't tried it in a while but I believe it gives a marine permanent cloaking. 30 shields and a General Duke portrait. It was made with WinMpq, some TBL editor, MPQDraft, and Arsenal3 . I included the DAT files and the TBL file as well as the MPQ.

Edit: Spelling

Does this belong in off topic? Although we have no forums for modding (we do not support it) maybe some hosted site in the future will happy.gif

Moving to General Staredit.

I have minor experience in this

Did you know you can get a "replay mission briefings" button on B.net?
It isn't THAT stable though... using it too much will drop you from the game.

That's kinda random.

Anyways, I made a fun patch a while ago (lost it when my computer died) where Terrans had upgrade to 255, vultures lay unlimited mines, all Terrans had shields, Marines were cloaked, cloaking costed nothing, and everything was available for 1 mineral. Ditto for Protss, though it was Carriers that could get limitless interceptors. Or supposedly, never tried it out before it died. As for Zerg, I never changed anything. *shrugs*

huh? What is?

Well anyway the replay is actually the 'skip tutorial' button, but it acts as a 'replay' button. I could change any text there if I wanted(example make 'Skip Tutorial' say 'Replay' and make the hotkey 'R', change 'Objectives' to 'Read this:', and anything else with text in the game)

!Warning! Do not attempt to use a mod on battle.net. Will result in you dropping from the game.

I use my own mods on bnet and they don't crash tongue.gif

There's nobody else in the game who doesn't have the mod.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2004-01-01 at 20:26:29
Being the only person with the mod, and using it crashes.
What I find odd is that when I forgot to turn the mod off, and played a game... no one dropped 'till I killed something. Not when my marine fired(rapid laser cannons(-=), but when he KILLED. Any1 know why?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-01-01 at 22:12:26
Dunno but I forgot to turn my mod off but when I found a marine it crashed.

Edit: It's like independent cc

Well, having the Mod ON, when no1 else has it ON.(totally unrelated to above post)
That's what I meant.
You found a Marine and crashed? Odd...
With me it's when my modded units actualy KILL, not be seen. Wierd.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-01-02 at 08:52:04
Thats because the image of your marine was normal. Mine was cloaked.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathknight on 2004-01-02 at 11:45:34
Well my mods are permanently edited files in stardat.mpq...

Things you can change without getting dropped:

• building/unit graphics
• *.bin files(depends how you edit it)
• any text in the game
• pictures/backgrounds/consoles
• unit frames
• spell graphics
• sounds
• some more minor stuff

I know you can modify sounds, there's a program for it.
BTW, does anyone know if there's any mod program(such as StarDraft), except that you can use it with v.1.10? Or if SD works with 1.10, how? I can't get it to work with anything except 1.09. Ive tried:
1.10, 1.05, 1.00

I don't use any of those gay tools... this is what I use:

•Winmpq
•grp-bmp
•irfan view
•smacker tools
•Starcraft/Warcraft Dialogue editor
•Palette Editor
•Sound Recorder
•Paint
•Lo?Edit
•TBLpad
•Unit Resizer
•HEX Editor
•Notepad

I forgot you can also change portraits and smk files and it will work on bnet.

I wanna be able to make things like my rapid-laser-marines with 100 hp, shields, and 2 armor easily, atleast almost as much so as SD allows me.

MPQDraft works on 1.10. Read the first post
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2004-01-02 at 16:48:54
MPQDraft is a modding thing?
I find it extremely frustrating.
I'll look at it more to see what I can do with it.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-01-02 at 16:52:03
Yes MPQDraft is a modding program for making the .mpq a mod
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2004-01-02 at 16:54:30
Or you can just get StarEXEHack and create a new, different StarCraft.exe (or StarEdit.exe) which reads from a different .mpq file. That's at http://shadowflare.gameproc.com/
Report, edit, etc...Posted by SpaceBoy2000 on 2004-01-02 at 22:59:27
Actually, MPQDraft can make executables too. Only problem is that you have to have at least some experience in using it.

Usually, you can change things in StarCraft that won't effect gameplay, and they should work on B.Net. So you can't really edit stats and expect it to work on B.Net, unless the other guy has the same mod. Try mods like STF (http://stf.campaigncreations.org) or search around the community. Sites like Sovereign Modding Empire (http://www.smepire.org) will have a few. There are some tutorials at Campaign Creations too (http://www.campaigncreations.org).

I need help too.
Unless I figure out how to use it myself, which is unlikely.
