Staredit Network -> StarForge -> Missing Files
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2005-01-23 at 18:46:00
I see this asked very commonly about starforge. If you are missing something like comdlg.ocx or likewise, and you are think "I downloaded required files but that didn't work" get the file it asks for (google it) and place it in <letter of hard drive, usually C>:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32

We have all the required files in the DLDB...

I looked and didn't see .ocx's. So many people say they DLed the "required files" but still get the error.

it doesnt work for some reason, but if you get starforge 2.1, it comes with them, so you have to get 2.1 and then uninstall it, then install starforge 2.2, it works afterwards, that is what happened to be

If you download Starforge 2.2 from here, everything should be fine, I did and it's ok.

Sometimes just placing the files in the system32 directory isn't enough. If you still receive the error, try this:

Select "run" from the start menu, and type the following:
regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx
(or regsvr32 msconstl.ocx, depending on which file you're having problems with)

Did you try locating the file yourself? Make sure you pick one from the 2.2 installation and not an earlier version. The solution to this problem is posted in the sticky.

Don't move the .exe outside of the folder.

Perhaps something little more detailed than a wacko OS error code might help...

This is a missing file error in disguise. Try following the steps to download and install MSVBVM60.DLL, MSCOMCTL.OCX, COMDLG32.OCX, and COMCTL32.OCX.
