A map I made out of shear boredom... and somehow finished! It's based off the SNES version of Super Mario Kart.

Map Info:
64x64
2-4 players (Player 1 is required at the beginning)

Objective:
-To be the first to win the amount of matches set.

Powerups: (utilizes a dropship system)
Green Shell - Fires a missle straight at the target. It will turn into an Infested Terran and run around.
Red Shell - Homes on the target until it hits a wall.
Banana Peel - Places a banana where you currently are.
Triple Banana Peel - (see above)
Starman - Gain invincibility for a short time. You can hurt other players in this mode.
Shadow - Become invisible for a short time.
BombOmb - When an enemy player runs over it, they will slow down for a short time.
1-Up Mushroom - Increases Life by 1 (does not exceed 3)

Other stuff to know:
-You can only carry ONE powerup at a time.
-You may not pick up another powerup when your Green Shell or Red Shell is still following its target.

Hope you enjoy! The file size is somewhat big since it has music.

Sounds like a very nice map. I want a few more details though before I take a look at it. Do you actually automatically move? Or is it like you click to move forward. How do you move?

I guess I should have put more info... and yes, you click to move foward. Basic movement system.

Gameplay Info:
At the beginning of each match, all players will spawn in the center. Then, players frantically move around collecting powerups (Psi Emitters). Players try to shoot down other players while trying to survive. As the match progresses, more Banana peels are laid around the field and several Infested Terrans are running around (Inf Terrans are Green Shells). The Shadow powerup is perfect to sneak up on other players to get in for a close range shot. If there was a timer selected, when it reaches 0, Infested terrans will start spawning in the middle of the arena to try to speed up the match. You recieve damage by running into shells, bananas, or other players with a Starman activated. Bomb-ombs (spidermines) are also helpful in getting easy shots with Shells and Starmans. The last player alive wins the match and a new match begins.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that shells can be interrupted by other shells or bananas on the field.

Hey since I can't make the hall of Fame in Infinite Shift, can I go into the Hall of Fame for Mario Kart Battle cuz i beat you? <(ˆ.ˆ)>

Oh yea also, is there any way to make the dl faster for people who aren't dling via SEN? Could you compress the Super Mario Kart .wav, or would that make the sound horrible?

On another note, is the REAL reason you made this map is because the best item in the game is a
Starman!!! hmmmm? wink.gif

I prefer triple green shells (referring to N64 game) over a starman.

I mean in the map, but in the N64 game triple shells are fun! The star is somewhat hard to control because you go so fast in N64, but it still is useful. Actually, in N64 i like the ghost. tongue.gif

Wait a minute, why are we talking about N64? THIS WAS BASED UPON SUPER MARIO KART (for SNES, it looks almost like Battle Arena 1 smile.gif) Man those were the good old days. Evil rigged 150cc comps, the Rainbow Road that had no rails blocking you from running off the course... cheezy jumps and thowmp guys in Bowser's Castle... the extremely annoying ice course sending you straight into the water in the center of track... those were the days... happy.gif

I'll have my revenge, Kirby! Just you wait!

Further compression makes the sound horrible. It doesn't sound as 'crisp'. Not to mention it's a lot more fun playing against your friends than strangers.

You don't lose a life but you WILL slow down, making you a much easier target for shells and players using starmans. Oh, you also can't get hurt from your own bomb-omb.

My original intention was to have triple green shells, but the shells are too slow, so I replaced it with a Bomb-omb. There doesn't seem to be an air unit that travels faster than a non-upgraded vulture. sad.gif I even ran a couple of "racing" tests to see which unit was faster. The air unit was either slower than the vulture or about the same speed.

Couldn't you just make the vehicles a goliath then? They are large units and they move faster than infantry and tanks.. They could be more easily hit by red shells and green shells too. The only problem is that with your starman move it works so well at high speeds; the goliath might make the chase too... dull?

This is from your personal expereince, I can tell smile.gif.

Also, did you know Vanilla Coke is making a Mario Double Dash map because he was inspired by you? It's in the "Maps in Production" Section. You might want to check it out. <('.')>

Wow, I really liked Super Mario Kart, since that's almost literally all I played until I got an Xbox, and I think this map turned out really well. Impress us again...

Argh, stupid AOL... wont let me send replys, so I have to use Internet Explorer...

Sorry for any mixup with the Mario Kart Battle Sounds. I think I tried to cancel it halfway when it was being uploaded and got corrupted? Anyways, this should be the one... hopefully

Really nice job. Very fun to play. Music really adds to it too. Source?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mr.Kirbycode774 on 2005-02-04 at 12:16:53
Rodents.. (Must... resist urge to strangle...) there is one reason why the music works best with this Mario Kart Battle game, because it came from a Mario Kart Battle game!!!

Everything in there comes from Super Mario Kart for Super Nintendo. If you are ever to buy that game, go to Battle mode and play any of the arenas. That is the only Battle music ever played in Battle Mode my memory serves me, but hey, it rocks! (Too bad Super Mario Kart only worked for 2 players sad.gif)

Also, Shadow is supposed to be the equivalent to Boo in Super Mario Kart, except there are two problems:
1. You can see the little outline of the invisible units. You can't see them in Super Mario Kart.
2. In two player mode you can't cheat by looking at the other player's screen while they're in ghost so they can't get you. BOOOOOO!!!!!!
