Staredit Network -> StarForge -> Great Ideas For Evantual Next Version
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Robi on 2005-01-26 at 13:22:11
Ok, I think I ever posted something like this somewhere, but now there is a new forum for that, i make a topic for that biggrin.gif

1 Fix the bugs :
a) sound virtual duplication as explained in the other topic happy.gif
b) when we put more than 30000 and something in the time to build of a unit/bldg, it makes an error...
c) make that when we didn't put a force for a trigger, it don't disapear, but warn the map editer that he forget it and let him do it.
d) a bit personal bug, but it's a bug, let me explain : when i add extended units in unit list of starforge like unit 2008 for "rain", when i go to unit sttings, and click on it, it bugs ! and sometimes, i don't remember exact conditions but, it make StarForge bug at start ans you need to modify the reg to make it work again ! You could make that it make editbox disabled instead of trying to read it...

2 Features to add :
a) Fog of war, yes !
b) I ever said it somewhere, when u select some units and press directional keys, it moves unit of 1 pixel ! Make an option that we could change this !
c) A fast-launch-map, like in BWChart to look replays in stacraft, I think it is possible...
d) Check for new versions
e) unit view range.... pilon range....show creep....show like real game fog of war (I don't know how to really explain this, but the feature in SCMDraft 0.5)
f) Zoom....
g) unit-brush, like for terrain, but for units or sprites !
h) options to check : if it show unit custom name of the map in the units list at left of SF, (with colors ? biggrin.gif) ;p

Try to make all this, and it would be very good I think biggrin.gif
Anyway, don't think I don't like SF because I say all that, but it's for better upgrades, if any biggrin.gif That's all

Some of these are just fancy little features. I think heimdals doing a fine job with SF as it is.

There needs to be a feature to disable auto-save.

I love SF smile.gif

But, A few things drive me completely NutS!!

I.E.

Isometric Terrain (Need I say more)
Some of the Runtime errors (I don't know what they are but they crash SF)
A list of Sprites and what they do

But, other than that keep up kick ass work!!!

Use OnError to create custom error prompts that don't exit the program. Then change teh auto-saving interval to two minutes.

If possible, add a test map buttons that lunches Starcraft and loads your map.

1) You are not really wrong but not really right. These features will just help making maps.... if you think that is fantasy -_-
2) you are right

Yes, allow disabling the backup feature. And be able to control how filebackup names are saved.

IE: Instead of map.bak.scx, allow people to make it say map_bak.scx or map.bak, etc.

What I'd like

1. A brush from palatte. IE you open palatte and selcet the terrain you want instead of one square at a time you pick the size.

2. A brush flipper. IE a feature which flips the brush. Say if you had } this then the flip would be this {, so youd end up with }{.

Es imposible implementar el uso de archivos midi en los editores. Para hacerlo habria que modificar el StarCraft, puesto que este no puede reproducir ficheros midi, lo que significaria que no se podria jugar por bnet esos mapas. Tendras que conformarte con wavs.

Lesson: These are not your typical forums. Please talk proper english, we do not allow: Foreign Languages, Heavy 1337, and excessive shortforms. Everyone DOES make mistakes though, and the casual grammar mistake and spelling error is fine. We're only human (except for administrators and mods)

They have custom brushes you dont need to click one square at a time....

you go to the button next to palette--->"Custom Brushes"-->Load Brush-->Whichever tileset your using-->click on those doodads--->And

Oh, here's a good error fix:

OnError(Error53) /(file not found in {home}/file
look in C:/Program Files/Starforge/file

Might stop some of the error 53s people get.

I don't think you need to know spanish to know what Clokr said. Everyone knows you can't make SC play midis, or mp3s, or anything but wavs.

I sure haven't. From what I read (and I couldn't find much information on it) it can only do background music though.
