Staredit Network -> Serious Discussion -> Reading posts

Some people might not understand how serious this subject is, but in my own opinion posting a post in a thread without reading every singal post in it (or if it's a 100 pages thread than just the first two pages and last two pages) is a very bad habit and might cause... things.

I mean, don't you think it just looks dumb when people post something that was already said by someone else, or something completly unrealted to the thread?
In most cases it also cause other people to reply to those posts and being replied etc, and causing a useless spam that makes the thread become popular when it's actually just a load of bs?

In many cases it also causes that thread to be closed when there's still what to discuss about the subject of it.

What do you think, should every singal post in a thread be read or just some of them, and if then - which?

Also - if you post in this thread please read every post that was already made in it closedeyes.gif

I just read things that usually are easy to read. When people use center aligned paragraphed posts or dark colored ones, i have trouble reading them. And usually I read ALL the posts that come after mine.

I read every line, but only once. Unless I find it really interesting, in which case I might give it a second thought.

I think it's very important to at least read a majority of the posts sticking to the subject of the forum. I have a huge problem with this as well, ive posted a few things where people won't read the post because it's "too long(they have a.d.d.)
and then they post something already answered. Well anyway, that's all i have to say, im pretty sure im somewhat agreed with. I just wish the important topics would get popular because they obviously are worth the attention.

I read every post only if I'm going to post something. If I'm only going to vote, I read the first post and vote, then read the rest of the topic to see if I can input anything into the discussion.

Read posts from people I want to know the oppinion of, or long posts (that are actually worth being read). Skips short replies (since they usually never add the to conversation. Such as this one).

If there's a long, uninteresting post (Usually by DW, sorry) I try reading it, and then skip it. But that rarely occurs. I usually read all of the posts.

If there are about 100 posts or more, I read the first few to get the idea of what we are discussing, then I read the last few to see where the topic is going. If there are not too many posts I read all of them. Seeing as most of the topics don't have that many posts, I usually just read them all.

What's this topic about anyways? wink.gif Sometimes I real all of them, but mostly, like just now, I only read a couple of them. I don't really think it's a HUGE problem, but I can see people needing to read a bunch of posts to know what's going on if it's a huge topic. Unless you've been posting in the topic from around the begining. Then it's okay.

I usually try to read most replies. However, it's pointless to do that in some threads that don't matter, like the famed 'post your pic' thread of 1982.

I don't read all posts. I skim them. If anything catches my attention or confuses me (I usually get the point fairly quickly), I'll focus in to read more. If there's something I feel a need to reply to, then I either re-skim to check for anything that I might end up repeating or I quote specifically to the post that I'm replying to so it has a context. Sometimes I'm sloppy though because I skim so often, but I usually let my involvement in a thread's topic drift me into its discussion specifics gradually if it becomes of any importance or interest to me.

I read the first post.
If it's interesting then I'll read them all and post something.

Well, actually I have to read them all since I gotta moderate the forums but mostly someone will report it and I don't have to do much reading.

I mostly just read the stuff that looks interesting.

I read it all unless someone says something that pisses me off that I want to reply to.

I either read everything or just skim over every post, so I know what everyone is saying.
