Trigger
Description:
Talking
Players:
¤ First Computer
¤ Everyone who you want to see the text
Conditions:
¤ Switch 1 is set
¤ Switch 2 is cleared
Actions:
¤ Display Text for current player: "How are you?"
Then you could do different switch combinations for different messages. You then also can randomize a response with the same method.

yes i think its possible to make bots talk to each other just get the responds right... and the switch right..
like
condition: randomize switch 1 2 and 3 action: meh i forget..
and then like
condition: switch 1 set switch 2 cleared switch 3 cleared action: Bot1: How are you Then like set switch 4 or someting
condition: switch 4 is set action: bot2: Good set switch 5 or etc
or you can even put randomize trigger in thoes again maybe might be the same thing that they say but it will acctualy give them a randomize
this sounds pretty interesting how you can acctually make a movie with like 4 split ending and different stuff to happen becuase of its randomize

lol, start with 3 questions, then hav 3 responses, then from those responses, the fiorst 2 unused questions plus 1 more are rnadomized etc. plus bots take turns talking at random times

How about using units to represent different aspects of emotions, topics, and feelings, so you'd have a real working bot that talks for REAL instead of randomly?
Hmm, I think I have my next mapping project. Major pointless mapping project.

pointless and time consuming but will be interesting but no one will play...

way too many triggers, ud need the different spelling of each sentence and also for each player and each name length

Which in the end results in it being impossible, which is why I didn't mention it.

You could even add different aspects like the bot stops talking for a bit. Then that triggers the other bot after a while to say thing like "You here still?" and start it all over.

He didn't post a question in Map Making Assistance, this is a Concept topic.

well how about using a beacon system for talking... then u dont need so many EUD text detection trigs for it, another CONCEPT
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Urmom(U) on 2005-11-14 at 20:59:34
You don't even need EUD triggering for this.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by AFL-InuYasha on 2005-11-14 at 21:05:09
well Syhon suggested using EUD,s so i was suggesting a way without EUDs that still has user input
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mystic-Death on 2005-11-15 at 19:56:21
EUD text detection is hard to accomplish... Heh, that would be a very impressive map. Would go great with extended terrain like Woodenfire's and a great RPG storyline. But even then you don't exactly NEED text detection. You could just run around using beacons and wasting locations.
-edit:- And strings! ^_^

its not the many location, if u hav 8 options in a 3x3 grid with space in middle, u can hav 6 location that overlap eachother to form colums and rows. or u could use 8 locations and reuse them for something else, alot of ppl nvr understand recycling locations by using them for mroe than 1 thing, just name then 1 thing, then when ur done using them for that for triggers, change thre names to the new things
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PCFredZ on 2005-11-17 at 12:31:20
Besides, I think the original intent was to have two robots talk to each other, not a conversation bot to talk to the player.

lol, ya, wasnt supposed to hav humans invlved, kinda drifted off there
