hey what exactly is the best terrain for zerg, protoss,Terran?
w00t 100th topic
[sub]...What do you mean? That makes no sense..[/sub]
well actually i dont think its for what races, i think its for what style map you want.
If you want something simple, just do ash or something, cause that only has 2 layers of height and only some unbuildable, then like jungle, badlands and desert in the middle, then like space or twilight or ice have the most varied layers. I dont know if that really answers your question, but your question didnt make sense, so i kinda improvised.
the "best" tilesets are jungle, twilight and space because they have many different terrainposibillities..
desert and ice are good too, but ice can be hard for the eye sometimes (and p looks bad when they warp stuff on ice) Desert on the other hand has very big ramps which are kinda anoying.
In a gg.net poll 46% ~ voted that jungle were their favourite tileset.
I think he's asking what types of terrain give advantages to the different races.
that depends entirely on the setup of the map.
So he's wondering wich setup is good for wich race?
The thing is, you wanna balance a map for each race..
I'd love to see a map called "Terran Ownage" with like enough distance between everywhere so that tanks could own everything. Just to laugh and say haha he makes worse maps than me. Honestly none of the tilesets have any advantages unless you make them have them.
[sub]Tilesets mean nothing, this topic is pointless, someone lock this already.[/sub]
Yeah, but some tilesets affect different player colors... Example snow is bad for Protoss warping buildings and white players.
I sorta dislike ash when your playing with brown players.. Otherwise I like ash quite a bit, its simple terrain, I'm gonna remake an old map I made during my winter break, either that or scrap it and start fresh with the same basic idea.
[sub]Someone lock this, this idiot thought it would be cool to make the 100th topic in this fourm. His post was meaningless and made no sense due to his nonexistent melee knowledge.[/sub]
I don't think terrain and tileset are the same thing.

there are no white players on snow *duh*
they become green
Valug shut up dont flame me.....
I think the tileSet had manythings to do witht he advantges and disadvantages
Like desert there high ramps are great for tanks and perfect for marine cover
but im unsure on the others
[sub]Lmao, yeah, of couse we all know that desert's ramps are the best for tanks and marines. Cause all those ramps in other tilesets don't work as good as the desert ones.
Wow, tilesets are all basically the same, atleast with all the major elements. No titleset is better then any other when tring to favor a race. Every tileset has ramps (Except installation of course) and all the ramps are the exact same size and all do the same thing. Desert ramps are no better then any other ramps. All maps have unbuildable terrian, all tilesets have high ground of some type..
Summing up, all tilesets are almost identical, thats why its so easy to convert from tileset to tileset (with that old program) and still only have to change doodads and minor things.[/sub]
It doesn't matter. But the variety in doodads and terrain height types do make a difference, then again, that could be in any tileset.

You could use StarForge or Überation to make them white . Just saying if you want to get technical. That would add an interesting tactical advantage...
Heck, why not make all players white on iceworld? Talk about a disadvantage...
[sub]Yeah, all players the same color, that would be trippy. Im gonna go mod one of my maps so it does that.[/sub]
That would be creepy... but...
*decides to press alt+tab, alt+tab*
gg.
Blizzard added that for a reason...
