Ok i don't know if this system has been done before but here it goes

[center]CORBAN INV. SYSTEM[/center]

Terrain Description
Depending on how many items you want them to be allow to use it will be the terrain, the first part a wide terrain where you store all your items and next to that wide part 3x3 blocks where you have a dropship/shuttle/overlord, and a small 2x1 piece where you have a "selector" or "switcher" unit which you dont use in game
user posted image

System Description
The point of this is to have them limitated of a number of items they can "carry" means that they will have to load their items in the Dropship/Shuttle/Overlord
for example assuming medic its something about healing medics take 1x1 space in the D/S/O that mean you can carry 8 of them, but if its a siege tank that its 2x2 you can just carry 2 of them so that means you have to select the items you want

System Requirements
+Excellent understanding of triggers
+At least 5 available locations
+At least 12x12 free terrain tiles

System Triggers

(I'll need you to take a look at the Terrain Pic First)
Trigger 1. (Turn on Inventory)
+Player (any player) Brings At Least 1 (selector, Switcher) to (Inv. on)
-Move all Dropships for current player from (anywhere) to "Drop."
-Move all shuttles for current player from (anywhere) to "Shut"
-move all overlords for current player from (anywhere) to "over"
-give all (character unit) at (location being centered) from player enemy to current player
-Preserve trigger

Why 1? becuase when you are done doing your changes an loading units you will need the DSO to be in their locations so you can use items, and its also an anti cheating device so they cannot take away their DSO, ill explain the give unit trigger later on

Trigger 2. (How to use Inventory)+Player (any player) brings exactly 0 (selector, switcher) to "inv. on"
-give all (Character unit) from current player to an enemy player
-preserve trigger

Trigger 3 (anti-cheating)+player (any player) brings exactly 0 Dropship to "whole inv."
-move all drop ship from anywhere to "whole inv."
-preserve trigger
Why 2-3?
in trigger 2 we gave our "character unit" assuming its a rpg you dont want to get attacked right? so we give it to your enemy so they cant attack it, you have to have 1 centered location to recover your character unit and actually you can make a map revaler to watch the unit meanwhile you are using the inventory
assuming you have the shuttle and the overlord too you will have to make other triggers for them, an to recover your character check out trigger 1

Trigger 4. (the usage)
+player (anyplayer) brings at least 1 (item unit) to location (drop., shuttle, overlord)
-set switch (unit effect)
remove all (item unit) at location (drop. shuttle, overlord
-preserve trigger

Why 4? the switch we just set its when you unload the item (use it) then it gets removed so you dont use it again the system will just set the switch for you its your job to make the switch effct and dont forget to clear it too, btw the locations labeled as Drop. Shut. Over. have to be ground only

PROS

+You can limitate the amount of items
+Cool system
+You can place start location on the main space
+by placing a SL on the MS you can press space bar to use it as a hotkey for fast accessing the inventory
+the free will to manipulate the system as you want by selecting the items you want and by turning it on/off when ever you want
+it doesn't use wait times so it doesn't mess up another waits
+corbo said it
+you can limitate the system usage so when its a cut scene you can not let them use the inventory. How? by adding a "switch is set" in the first triggers conditions so when you clear the switch the system will not work(note that you will have to make a diferent trigger to prevent the dropships from moving)
+you can make them "buy" more inventory space. How? you start with dropship if they want more space either they have to find extra shuttle space or else buy it tongue.gif

CONTRAS
+You cannot load Power ups
+You have no option but to use ground units
+you cannot load air units
+you cannot repeat DSO. Why? the triggers 1, 2 will mess up because having 2 dropships means that you will have two dropships to be moving constantly to location Drop.

There, Have fun with it and if i missed something you will notice and correct me tongue.gif
i hope you like it and if its has been made i didn't know tongue.gif

EDIT: i forgot the terrain pic, it now has it

Seems like an advanced version of the standard dropship system. Sounds good though.

If you can do this I should publish some systems tongue.gif

Mine is somewhat like yours, but better. Mainly because you can hotkey 8 items of your choocing for the specific hotkey.

(You could have a potion set to '*1m' or '*2z')

[sub][sub]*Numbers subject to change ingame.[/sub][/sub]

hmmm but to hotkey 8 items isn't it better to just hotkey 3 units and have a max of 8 items on each depending on the size as i said, tongue.gif or are you using the hotkeys already provided by blizz? tongue.gif i think mine owns becuz the creativity of the space thingy it gives it like a very rpg effect like if you've played any other rpg you will see that handgun takes less space than rocket launcher tongue.gif

+anyways i think the only problem with my system its that you will have to use ground units for it and ...

+actually another good thing is that you can decide how much space u give them tongue.gif DSO = 8x2 imagine having two you have 16x4 and if you have the three of them you have er... u make the sum smile.gif

+and yeah its just "the basic dropship system" but most of the time the dropship system is used for changing weapon (which you can do too in this system) or doing special commands (which you can do too) but for those you will need more complex triggers like to not let the DSO move at the same time but to have three switchers to deactivate one by one (not two at the same time) and just load specific kind of units to do this you can give the units you dont want them to load to another player(allied) so they can't load them tongue.gif man im so damm smart

btw

Ok how do you make space bar link to your dropship?

Constantly have an event that happens there.

Ok, so I'm not sure if I understand the system properly, it sounds like your trying to limit the number of items you carry depending on their size. Which could easily be done with deathcounts.

What's the difference between this and the regular dropship inventory system?

Do the units in the dropships represent options or the actual items? In other words, if you have 2 potions, would you have 2 of those units, or just 1, in the dropship?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Corbo(MM) on 2006-01-30 at 17:45:20
you would have 2 units in the drop ship takinf 1x1 of the dropship space each so you will have a 4x4 - 1x2 (its not math) so 3x2 spaces will still be missing if you would like to have a mega potion (assuming its a dragoon) you will have 2x2 additional to that to you will only get 2 more slots, i said it was the basic dropship system what makes it special is the ability to basically use it by an interruptor that when you start your inventory (by moving a selector unit) your hero will go to an enemy player so you can actually manage your inventory freely without being attacked oh and about the space bar go to your unit its a basic hotkey of blizz that when you press SB the screen goes to your start location so if the start location is on the inventory the screen will go to the inventory too tongue.gif (you dont see the start location the screen just goes there for some reason)

Good system...I'll have to try that sometime.

...Or we could just use WarCraft biggrin.gif
