If you use the talking portrait action then the whole game becomes laggy. It can be used as a cool effect during some parts of the game. Just do:

Always
---------
Show Terran Marine talking to current player for 0 milliseconds.
Preserve Trigger

Do that with Hypertriggers of course. You can change the Always to Switch X is set if you want to use it at a certain point in your game.

This could be used as a little Matrix Scene or when you use a spell in a Single or Multi-Player game.

Why does it lag?

I don't know exactly. I found this when me and Glitcher were testing his map, we couldn't figure out what was causing it at first.

Transmission actions have been kind of faulty for me, they won't work or anything.
Im'm not sure if it's the unit or just the trigger. Wierd.

I think I know the problem to this. Well, how can you have the same transmission going on infinite times in no time at all. It is definitely because there is too much going on at once from so much action in the transmission box. I hope this answers your question but I am still not sure about this.

My bad, I meant the "Talking Portrait" action, not the "Transmission" action. I'll fix that.

It sounds like this will lag slower computers. Using this may be unreliable because of playing with more or less people.

Hmm it's weird. It did it with me and Glitchur and it did it to me a couple days ago solo. I tried doing it again though a few days ago and it didn't have much of an effect. Could it be random?

if that slows your game down OH DAM you must have a WOODEN computer and a WOODEN MODEN BOTH ON FIRE
and it just slows down crappy computers for some reason it makes the game eat your cpu

I used to do this in old bound maps I would make to make the picture just static.. I never experienced any lag.

I think it was just a random lag when u tested it cuz i got a crapty connection and it haven't lagged at all when i tryed it.

Hmm I'll PM glitchur about it because it did it for him too.

werid way of lag...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by lil-Inferno on 2006-06-28 at 11:47:40
It really probably just because of the computer you are doing the map on. But if your computer is like mine, when you first get on it its very laggy and then its fast, It could have been because your computer does that frequently. tongue.gif

Hmm I don't think thats the problem though. My computer is 2.8 Ghz with 1024 MB of RAM. I think it can handle Starcraft fairly easily. I think I had cable internet at the time too.

isnt it just called lag?
