Although we're pretty much all familiar with the gameplay Warcraft 3, this is a little different. The base principal is, each character gets a hero who is their main unit. The main thing is, we've all seen the cliche of "hero from good kingdom a fights against evil kingdom b", in this, each hero would be representing a different army and playing against each other. I think they would not have direct control over the armies, but rather a sort of command position.
An issue I can see with this thus far is that they wouldn't have to ever use their hero, but I figure, to prevent players from camping back in their stronghold and watch the battle go, enemeis killed by their armies would give considerably smaller bonuses to the actual fighter, meaning you wouldn't be able to fund or manage your war without actually fighting it.
In addition to the players (most likely four, each with a corresponding computer player), random monsters/enemies with no alliances would be on the map (owned by players 8-11).
Just throwing it out there.
i've wanted to do something like this for quite a few years, but i've never been able to conceptualize a trigger system that would allow you to control 100s of units(or even dozens) with much accuracy. without accuracy, it would be a massing game. the closest i've come was to use individual units to represent larger groups, but generally people like to see huge armies kicking the crap out of each other as opposed to 2 or 3 unit combat.
You could probably use a turn based or active time board game set up where you move units like chess, only with much more complex formations.
The only way that you could do this in SC is with turn based play, since real time commands would be slow and limited. There are a couple ways that I could see someone doing this.
The first way would be to have all the players give their orders to different groups of soldiers and then when everyone is done execute all the commands again (and repeat the process over and over). It would be the closest you could come to rtc.
The other way would be to do a full out turn based game and have each player go at their own time and move each group of soldiers 1 at a time.
sounds good, what would the camping be? well i dont know but i know i would be the evil kingdom "b" lol
errrrr
Turn-based combat games aren't really played on b-net... Thier to complex for the average sc player apparently...
I'm not saying "make a really popular map that everyone will play".
I had an idea for a new gameplay style. I didn't mean camping in the gaming sense, just that they'd be sitting in security and sending out armies instead of actually getting in there and fighting for themselves.
Souns aeon of strifey with a twist though, i like it with the creeps and all
how i picture it is having two groups of marine's with super high hp and low
att, might be the way for it to work, meh theyd just focus fire but thats why
they shouldent have much control. being able to upgrade there army like add
a tank for x amount of gold to the army that it sends or w/e
lost of people have tried to do what AOS battlefield did, but none of them have the same magic, even when creator made #2.
