Staredit Network -> Concepts -> Controllable Defiler Mana
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Giygas on 2006-07-17 at 23:48:46
This shows how to create a Defiler that will only gain mana over time while it is burrowed, and will not gain anything while it is unburrowed. There are no triggers related to the mana in any way.

How to play the map:
1. Scroll down as soon as the map starts for approximately 5 seconds to prevent crash
2. Morph your larva at the very top left into a defiler
3. Burrow/Unburrow to experiment with controllable mana
4. Shoot swarm for some stupid bullet system i was messing with yawn.gif

Here it is: [attachmentid=20108]

Mind to say how you did it? I'm on a computer with no Starcraft installed right now.

Set a disabled unit-sprite larva and do the whole disable doodad state trigger on it. After that, any unit that the larva morphs into will be stacked and cloaked. For some strange reason the Defiler gets mana only while burrowed.

In other words, you could come with a map that is the anti-thesis to Rush, it would be called "Wait".

Lol... just lol.....!

oh and does ti really just gain energy while burrowed because i kinda had the same thing with hallucinations they didn't loose their life but if you re-selected them it lost all the life it didn't loose in the time it was clicked.. can you test it and "re-select" the defiler while its "not recovering" energy?!

Cloaked units do not gain energy. Burrowed units are "cloaked", but they still get energy. That is most likely why. wink.gif
(I didn't look at the map, you just said they were stackable and cloaked.)

well, cloaked units don't gain energy cause they're using it for cloak...

If you cloak a unit (with triggers) that has the cloak ability, it will lose energy rather than just stop it from going up.

About "Burrow + move = cloak"

It's not exactly the same. Burrowed units (normally) can't be hit by things such as Stasis Field. Cloaked units can.

So... "Burrow + move + attack + abilities - immunity = cloak" would be a bit more appropriate?

Very nice find by the way...

sorry if this sounds stupid or useless but...a ghost or wraith gains energy under an arbiter. of course, you know when you put an arbiter over a ghost or wratih, the cloak ability disappears but are cloaked and gains energy...

Great...
Does it really matter?
And you might want to stop at the word equations.
