Hey people, it seems like I'm the only one in Battle.Net that uses a Mac because wherever I go, all I see are PC users. I used to have a PC until my parents bought me a Mac and I'm enjoying it alot. However, I've been wanting to create a bound and without a map editor that creates square terrains, it is impossible for me. HexEdit is too hard to create a map with and I was wondering if something very similar to SCMDraft or Starforge can be created for a Mac. If creating a whole new map-editing program is too time consuming or too difficult, can SCMDraft/Starforge be converted into a Mac? My plans for my future maps are piled up because of this..

You could always play with that MAC bug some people have found and do the ISOM-like edits.

It seems I know two ways on a mac editor. tongue.gif
This one seems simplest:
QUOTE
First you do all terrain besides what you want square. Then save. Now you stretch the window to take up the whole screen. Drag the window to the left and reapeat these last two steps till you see white. Now make terrain on the white. Save close and reopen the map and now you can make square terrain.

EDIT:
Lol, that also works for PC if you can manage to get it wide enough to see black.

You can modify the cv5 and doodad files to place single square tiles, sprites, etc. in the regular editor.

Also, you can place doodads anywhere, which is kinda like squares.
SImply edit the terrain so that the doodad could be placed. Set the doodad on the place you want it, and undo all the terrain you just laid, (Apple-Z) without moving the mouse. If the doodad remains green, click. And undo-redo. Tada placed.

Ironically, that crashes my StarEdit when I try that trick, so that's out of the question for this particular Mac user. smile.gif

And as for SCM Draft Mac, someone else will probably finish something for us before SCMDM will even be near release. I think DW just gave up on it really.

Devlin It crashes the newer SCs but if you install an older version it works. and you get 2x1 tiles.

Wouldn't it be just as easy to open a map with square tiles, erase all the locations, units, and triggers, and then do terrain? If I remember correctly, you'll still get 2x1 rectangular terrain.

I thought the trick that crashes my StarEdit was for 1x1 tiles. Meh.

the best way to solve this problem be buying a PC smile.gif

Or installing Windows on an Intel Mac. Or buying/downloading Virtual PC (but then you'd still need a Windows OS install disc to run it, so its the same as the intel thing).

My friend, an ex-PC user, bought an Intel Mac and loves being able to have both operating systems on it.

I don't know much about it but I heard of an operating system that people really like called Ubuntu and its free.

Ubuntu is Linux software. I have it. It's also got a nice Windows emulator.

This is off topic but does anyone with mac have trouble using the maps from this website? When I download them they don't seem to work...

Most of them are protected. Protected maps wont open. I think that's your problem.

Aside from that, I have no issues opening unprotected maps from this website.
