Staredit Network -> Concepts -> Text Detection EUDs & 1.14?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by yoni45 on 2006-09-18 at 22:04:39
Ok, I've been trying for a bit now, and I can't get these damn triggers to work...

Is it just me? I have the new 1.14 offsets and all, and the numbers all match up, I've double and triple checked all of them a number of times while SC was running...

Anyone out there able to detect text? If so, please upload a demo map so I can take a look, since for some odd reason, this doesn't seem to be working... (For those who know how, please, give it a shot, this is driving me nuts...)

I was trying to use the first text "line" btw, and it seems like with the memory offset, the first letter of the line now starts on the 4th byte... (and again, if I'm wrong, please, let me know happy.gif)

Bah, anyone? happy.gif

What are the offsets?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by yoni45 on 2006-09-18 at 22:57:22
From what I got, the first letter in each line should start at:

0063EF08
0063EFE2
0063F0BC
0063F196
0063F270
0063F34A
0063F424
0063F4FE
0063F5D8
0063F6B2
0063F78C

(11 lines, the first letter alternates between the 2nd and 4th byte depending on the line...)

yoni, iv always thought you were pretty crazy good at stuff like this. Besides which action are you using for the detection?

I'll leave you to your own judgement, but I use an all-unit (all players) removal + defeat action, which should be blatantly visible... =/

Are you taking into account the color character that's probably at the start of each line? Are you taking into account little-endian notation?

Are you sure you're getting the 1.14 triggers?

Interestingly enough, there isn't a color character there in the memory... There was never one there before, and it worked fine, and I'm relatively sure the same applies...

Looking in the memory at the spaces that contain the text lines, there are no special characters prior to the text, just nulls, and there is also 1 null created after the last character... Nothing more...

I'm relatively sure I did, but I'll double check just in case... Did you try with the offsets I gave and no go, or found them to be incorrect, or just asked to make sure...?

I haven't had a chance to playtest it yet, I was just checking since the old memcalc page isn't updated for 1.14.

Ah, so wait, the link in that previous message of yours *is* 1.14 right...? I used both MC and whatever LW's program is called, for 1.14, and they gave the same results... but yeah, I will double check...

Wahoo, it works!!!

Either I used the wrong mem addresses earlier, or the previous memcalc/ubecalc progs royally screwed me over... Either way, it's working...

Thanks happy.gif

The old Memcalc page only does 1.13f, so that probably was your problem tongue.gif

Odd, because it still differed from the numbers I had before (I was updating my map), which worked with 1.13f...

Oh well, I'll assume human error... either way, thanks happy.gif
