If you create a sprite unit start location, players can return minerals to it but the game doesn't pick it up as a "resource depot" automatically for you so the miners just sit at the minerals until you tell them to return to it. It also doesn't create any supply for the player.

On a slightly unrelated note Starforge always places 2 units for me when I only click once.. does anyone know why?

Deathknight has done plenty of research on Start Location sprites already. Check the (U) Tips & Tricks thread (I think its there, not sure).

Ask deathknight, he discovered that a long time ago.

I remember seeing EvilDrone make a map based off this a couple months ago.

About the double place, I had this same problem in some of the SCXE versions just simply placing a beacon. It's because it doesn't have any reason to stop placing it; nothing is in the way, and the sprite didn't take up any space. It requires a careful click or removing some of the others without selecting all.

Just be very careful not to move the mouse when clicking.

Be very careful to only click once. They are not in the same place unless you click twice, just offset by one pixel.

Just click it.
Yes thats right just click it.

Here's what i do when I get frustrated because of that.
I put the pointer where I want to place something. Then I let the mouse go and just click it I don't grab it and click it.

That doesn't happen with me, maybe it's cause I always have the grid on. Try that.
