Yes, drink more the more you want until you have no idea what is going on. Once that happens what do you care if you drink more anyways your a diffrent person.

What you said about making people take tests is hard to do. For one it takes away a freedom many people like regardless if there a social drinker, alchohol taster (who usually dont get that drunk), or a complete alchoholic. If you take a test many alchoholics pass it and some people who only have a glass of wine every now and then with family or give a half a cup to a kid so they can sleep and they can have the night to themselves pinch.gif that fail. Many people who only drink a little and limit themselves are bad when there drunk, while many alchoholics arent my dad can have about 5 beers before he acts diffrent and he is usually only bad if hes done crack and is going off it.

What im saying is theres no good way to get rid of alchohol just making it illegal may stop lots of domestic problems but it also starts many crime problems. My dad is a experianced drink he knows when hes had enough usually only times he lets himself go with it is when hes with freinds.

There needs to be ways to limit alchohol especially with younger people without turning people into moonshiners and cost the government billions. We tried once and we failed with prohibition, but can we do something else to stop drinking with youths and alcoholics?

Ad campaigns only work so well.

QUOTE(Mp)7-7 @ Nov 4 2006, 07:21 PM)
You can be responsible about drinking but you cant frink responsibly.  This is what I mean, once you drink, you start feeling the affects of alcohol, it slowly shuts down your brain, the part of your brain that makes your desicions it slowly tells you to drink more, responsible?  no.

You need to drink a lot to stop controlling yourself. If you controll yourself in the first place, that will not happen. Simple as that.

But many people who drink are people that can't control themselves or dont care and want a good time so what do they think about controlling themselves? Its hard to control youself and not do what other people are doing especially under peer pressure after you have had a couple of drinks.

Now this is a totally different question. You must pick such a company, where there are no morons like you described. Drink with people you trust and know.

I never had any bad situations when drinking with my friends. Just choose your friends cerefully.

When your drinking with freinds there not always freinds after they have had a couple of drinks everyone reacts diffrently to alchohol so how do you know if your freind wont be a completely diffrent person when try drink? Alchohol will change you when your sober too. Anybody can be a moron after a couple drinks. Some of the nicest people I know that drank are completly diffrent while some of the people who are mean are nice when they drink. Thing is how can you pick a good company if there compelty diffrent when they drink and for the most part if your drinking how can tell there good company if your too deep in the drink or having "a good time."

Did you read my post or not? I said that's it's better to drink with people that you trust and know. So that didn't associate with knowing how do they behave when drunk? If you drink, and your best friend drinks, you wouldn't know how he behaves when drunk?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Oo.Zero.oO on 2006-11-04 at 13:56:32
Unless hes drunk or drinking all the time how do you know if you could trust or know him whiles he drunk. Thats what I was getting at.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2006-11-04 at 13:59:38
Oh, I don't know. My parents drink and retain 'connections to their brains' fine. I think that I can restrain myself from drinking beyond a certain amount. I don't care if your father/friend drank themselves to death, that tells me more about them then it does about drinking.

I think that the limit of 21 on drinking in the US is a little extreme, especially as you can drive at 16 (right?).

Honestly I think the limit is retarded cause you can be drafted into the military and die before you can legally drink. But this doesnt mean I support drinking I just think its illogical.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mp)7-7 on 2006-11-04 at 14:39:22
You can also die at 1, or 0. You dont need a license on dieing. Drinking is just a good way to start a lot of problems that could mess up your future. If everyone is how you say they are Centreri. You can drink and stay responsible, then why are their drunks that drive home and kill people then beat their family? Why are there rehabs and why are people homeless because they wasted all their money on booze and trying to keep the buzz that they get addicted. I wish I was that responsible.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Centreri on 2006-11-04 at 15:36:08
You seem to think that the majority of everyone on earth is a responsible, caring, normal, kind, nice human being. They're not. More then half are, and the other half isn't. And the half that isn't, that's the criminals, the ones with constant hangovers, the wife-beaters.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mp)7-7 on 2006-11-04 at 15:59:17
Then when you make a law telling people that it is not legal to drink until the age of 21 you cut those numbers of who are the criminals wife beater, etc. in half. If not kids would think it is okay and be released to these dangers long before they do now.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CaptainWill on 2006-11-04 at 16:39:05
I think the only things that can be concluded about drinking are:

1. In moderation it can help a group of people have a good social time.
2. It can cause problems for some people.
3. The problems it causes vary in severity, but like any other drug it can cause addiction.
4. It is extremely dangerous and selfish to drink and drive.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Lithium on 2006-11-04 at 18:25:00
You think YOU are responsible Centreri? Tell me. What makes you think you are responsible if majority of the world isn't. Alcohol Takes effect faster on teenagers who absorb things faster and better then the most adults. The MOST amount you could be kept in moderation is 1~2 cup of beer. Centreri, when you do drugs; it is more likely that the drugs are to control you rather than your conciousness. And Alcohol is a drug.
You think you aren't a criminal? Tell me. Have you ever thrown a trash on the streets? If you have. Your a criminal. Have you ever downloaded a music illegally? Your a criminal. Iam a criminal. And thats not what I call so responsible. You know what? If theres a age limit on alcoholic beverages, why are there age limit for everything? Why cant you get a job when you are a elementary school kid. Why can't you drive when you're 5. Some of them are pretty mature. Why can't they?
Centreri. Your the kind of person who starts drinking and kills people. Drinking isn't based on mental maturity. It's based on physical maturity. Thus age.
Why? Your blood amount is alot less then the fully grown adults if you arent a fully grown adult. Drinking alcohol increses percentage of Alcohol in your bloodstream far faster than the adult's. A less developed body may have trouble detoxicating Alcohol, while most adults do even when they are mentally retarded; it doesn't mean their subconcious part of the brain is. Alcohol while a depressant; is a great way to kill your brain cells also.

Exactly what I have been trying to say summed all up in one, I just couldnt quite put it like that. I guess Lithium thinks just like I do. Thanks Lithium!

Concluded, Alcohol is a drug; and if you want to abolish this law basing on age on using alcohol; run a campaign on signing over 1,000 signs who is under the age of 21. I don't think anyone'd get a sign more than a 100.

A depressant. Fatal drug if over consumed. Addictive. Dangerous to adolescents and physically weak people. You can be responsible and still be irresponsible while you are drunk. Reasoning skills are degraded and the drug kills brain cells faster than naturally dying out.

To be honest, you can't necessarilly debate about something that you haven't done and experienced. Saying something is bad based on statistics and such cannot justify your point to the fullest.

There is nothing wrong with drinking, and it is not a true drug. In effect, there's nothing wrong with any drug or drink. It's the person that makes it bad.

Having "a cold one" every now and then is just fine.

Statistically deaths by drinking are VERY minimal. In fact, the main cause of death is not by drinking but by the action taken after intoxication. Sure... you might say that drinking is the cause of it... but it once again goes to the person not the substance.

Drinking is not addictive... If you haven't had many alcoholic beverages, you wouldn't know, but drinking alcholol is as easy to break away from as drinking milk (btw folks, drink your milk, build strong bones).

Besides, alcohol has been a part of american history for as long as man can remember. Cheers.

ADDITION:
And in account for brain cells. There are a majority of brain cells that are actually inactive and do not play a part in the thought process. If there was a deficiency in brain cells, these cells kick in to achieve the same brain efficiency than usual. I have NEVER ever even ONCE heard of anyone going dumb or retarded off using alcohol.

(However, I have heard of it with people using alcohol with the combination of drugs. v_v the drugs did it not the alcohol).

Also. There is no way to actually regulate the amount of "power" each cell emits towards the collective whole in the operation of your brain. What's the expense of a few brain cells? What are you going to be using those brain cells for anyway? Were they even useful in the first place? You do know, that they die anyway. They die from any things. Getting hit on the head kills brain cells. Or exerting a high amount of effort over high stress conditions kills brain cells (like studying all night and not sleeping ,kills brain cells). Does that mean we should promote safety helmets to protect our braincells?

You cant debate something if you havent been a part of it? Did I not tell you that I have been drunk twice, not very happy about it, it was at my house and the only person with me was my sister, the problems I have with drinking is that I dont like when my friends do it then drive home. Also, If your parents were both alcoholics or your parents died from a drunk driver I think they would tell you that they dont like it even though they probably will never touch alcohol in their life.

Alcohol is a drug. A depressant and a biochemical substance.
I wonder what your definition of a addiction is, but mine is a strong attraction to a thing and you probably can't resist its pull. Maybe you haven't been drunk enough Red2Blue. To be honest, you've never drank until you fainted.

In addition to, I've been drunk plenty of times and I didn't like it because my head hurt like hell and my mouths were dry as if I didn't for a whole day after running 5 miles. If anyone smells your mouth after drinking a cup even a cup or even a little bitty few drops; you know if you drank or not.

Yes, Having 1-2 bottles of beers a week is incouraged, but we are not talking about these people that drink it for the sake of drinking it. We are talking about teens that arent even supposed to have the alcohol in the first place and getting drunk. Yes some people are smart enough to only have a couple a week. But teens arent, this is why there is a 21 year law. Yes it is a drug.

Aw come on. You can have more than 2. Like 3. No more than that.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mp)7-7 on 2006-11-06 at 08:35:01
Ya you would be ok with three or maybe even four a week. Though you should probably only stay with two to three. I cant remember but I think I remeber hearing that 1 a day is okay, or is this only a certsin amount? Like a can or something?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Oo.Zero.oO on 2006-11-06 at 15:41:08
I would not encourage a can of beer every day not because of brain problems but just because the fact beer is a very fattening drink. To have more than 2-3 they should be healthier alchoholic beverages. Though there really isnt that much thats healthy for you.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mp)7-7 on 2006-11-06 at 16:18:54
Well, it is known that everything in beer is actually good for you. The only bad thing is the alcohol, in one 12 oz of beer is 1 once of alcohol. There are drinks with everything in it the same as beer just without the alcohol and it is really good for you.
