Basically since I'm known as the EUD man, I figured that if one really wanted to make a nice cool RPG you can make it using EUDs. There are two main categorys I thought about: A 2d side scroller allowing the left and right arrows to move your RPG hero left and right and advance into the next area, and a ZELDA STYLE, where all four arrows control movement, and you can use a gateway or other unit-producing factory to activate abilities, etc. I believe this would be an amazing way to boost SC RPGs, like a sort of gameboy, where there is a screen and you can use the arrow keys to move into and out of areas. Comments and questions?

This will get screwed as soon as a new patch gets out. Also, I think it will be kinda irritating to move around like in zelda.

It takes 4 triggers to detect movement via arrow keys (Easily modified). And thats your opinion smile.gif

I know it doesn't require a lot of work. But think about it. People wouldn't like to move around like in Zelda. This is Starcraft, and you play it like Starcraft. You should try to make a good spell system with EUDs instead. It will be more useful.

Well thats kind of a matter of opinion... If starcraft is starcraft why do we have all these other maps that aren't even relative to starcraft? Like bounds and other things like that? I mean.. if you wanted to create a true zelda RPG this could be the way you did it...

Well, if it were a long rpg, I would get annoyed at the screen jumping all the time whenever I moved. Other then that, sounds like a good idea.

Yes, I thought about the constant screen jumping as well, but I figured that if you wanted to you could make the terrain larger and modify the offsets of the EUDs to make it fit properly.

EDIT: you could also add more hypers and take out all wait times in the RPG to create a faster center view time.

You could downgrade the map a few patches, and then you could use EUD actions to change the terrain after a time.

That is also true, however you could use buildings etc to change the environment as well as critters and units

Believe me, it either looks bad or is really difficult to do. wink.gif

Actually its not difficult, so much as very time consuming.

Retarded.

Right on.

Nobody, could you give me a .trg file of the four side scrolling (arrow detection) conditions? I would give you credit I promise. If not, I can search for help in a different place. Thanks.
