This uses EUDs
In this spell system, you could either use a gateway system or the dropship system, and then choose which spell of yours you would like to "hotkey". Then, when you want to use that spell, you would press F4 to bring you to your start location which was convienenly placed in an obscure location in the corner of the map.
Now, when you are looking at that corner of the map, an EUD detects your screen posistion and casts the spell that you hotkeyed previously and will center view on your person.
The rest of the spells wouldbe cast normally with the dropship or gateway system.
What do you think? Good idea or bad?
Well, first off EUD screen position will completely eliminate all multiplayer aspects. I'm guessing that the dropship will drop a unit and leave it on the ground and you can switch the spells being on the ground, right? Well this would take a lot of time to alternate hotkeyed spells and then have to press f4 or space bar, then go back to your dropship, etc. in the heat of a battle. The EUD's would also be scrambled each patch which would make your single player map have to be constantly updated. Also your view of everything gets constantly shifted.
More bad things than good things, EUD's are really not supposed to get mixed up with spell ideas in a RPG or whatever.
I think it would just be easier instead of having one spell hotkeyed to just have one unit producing building to have all spells available, not like it takes a lot of time to create a scout or zealot if you set the time to 0 or 1.
Also, it's possible to change the f4 by hitting shift+f4 somewhere else, which will mess up the system.
