Staredit Network -> Concepts -> Ghostly appearence

Well, I tried to make a new rain type effect, after looking at Zerg playing deads thing, and this is wierd. If you move out from the center, some of the medics uncloak and don't recloak untill you go into the center. I don't know why that happens, but it reminded me of some kind of "ghostly" image.

That was weird, try making them flying units so you can walk.
Also how is that ghostly?

some reason i saw blank space....

It's cool but he needs diff units so you can move around.

If it was an air unit, they might bunch up in a group. And i'm too lazy to check to see if an air unit would uncloak.

You should post a screenshot of that. That was neat. So many things in SC are glitchy and messed up. biggrin.gif Makes me so happy that there is always more to discover.

Just have alot of observers flying over, it gives it a blurry image which gives the impression of water

....

The point of the map is that the medics are uncloaking from just movement of a unit. Tard. crazy.gif

Well nice trix map!

I like that. At the beginning it 'flashes' medics and then they totally cloak and 'wiggle'. I know I'm saying what everyone else did, but if you could walk that would be cool. What if you created a unit at that location so the medics 'push' each other and then you unit get pushed too, looking like he is possessed or something.. anyway, well done!

It makes alot of lag (on my machine at least) but its interesting. I have no idea why they uncloak like that.

One question. Why medics?

Wow thats pretty awesome. Wonder how it works.

The thing is that it does take a lot of units and requires a locked space like that. I think that it could be used as an effect in RPGs, but it is too unit intensive... too bad.

ADDITION: By the way, have you tried this with other units in the middle? Marines, Zerglings, Dragoons? Do they all have the same fad in effect?

I originally was going to set the medic's HP lower, so they would heal each other. I didn't know at the time if they made healing animation things or not.

I've used other units too. From what i've tested, they all do that. But lurkers burrow, and you can see where they burrowed at, even without vision. Archons look the best because some of them look like their incomplete so it looks like a ball of light. It looks really cool. cool1.gif

Could you post the map with some different units? Or post some screenshots, that way we could see the different effects for ourselves.

That would be awesome. I wondr if it works with air units by moving an air unit because I know they don't stack by moving them to one place, so it might work, I dunno.
